Andreas Hofmann (born April 13, 1986 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
Born in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Hofmann began his career in his hometown at the SG Bettringen district club , where he stayed until 2005. At the age of 19 he moved to 1. FC Normannia Gmünd and played for two years in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg . In 2007 he won the WFV Cup with the Gmünders .
He then took the opportunity in 2007 to move to the third-class Regionalliga Süd and joined VfR Aalen from the town of Aalen, which is around 25 km from Schwäbisch Gmünd . After a period of getting used to it, he was able to establish himself in the team and with the club he qualified for the new single-track 3rd division . The first year as a professional was, however, unpleasant; Aalen fought against relegation and in the end of the season Hofmann suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament after losing a cup game . The club was relegated to the fourth-class Regionalliga Süd and he himself was out for a long time. He only returned at the end of the first half of the 2009/10 season and then needed until the end of the season to find his way back into the team. Nevertheless, with her he succeeded in the immediate return to the 3rd division important championship in the regional league as well as winning the WFV Cup.
In the following year Hofmann had finally prevailed and was part of the tribe in his position in defensive midfield. This continued in the 2011/12 season, where he again completed over 30 league games. At the end of the season, the club even made it to second place in the table and Hofmann was promoted to the club for the second time, this time to the 2nd Bundesliga .
He was also able to defend his regular place in the 2nd division, he wore the captain's armband several times as regular vice-captain. As the only regular player from the region, he was one of the club's audience favorites.
Andreas Hofmann joined the season 2015/16 for SpVgg Greuther Fürth and signed a two-year contract. After this contract was not extended, Hofmann joined the Karlsruher SC for the 2017/18 season , where he signed a contract valid until 2019. He played his first competitive game for Karlsruhe on July 21, 2017, the first matchday of the 2017/18 season, in a 2-2 draw against VfL Osnabrück . After a total of three league appearances for KSC, a knee injury put Hofmann out of action for almost the entire season. After his recovery, he made four appearances in the second team of the KSC before terminating his contract with the KSC in June 2018 and ending his active career.
