Andreas Knipping

Andreas Knipping (born February 14, 1952 in Munich ) is a German lawyer and author who primarily publishes on topics related to the history of the railway .

Life and work

Knipping studied law . He worked as a government director and full-time lecturer at the Bavarian Civil Service College in Munich. Knipping later moved to the Munich Social Court as a judge . From 2001 he was employed there as a further supervisory judge. He also took on the role of press spokesman for the court. In his ruling practice, Knipping was involved in disputes over compensation payments under the ghetto pension law. Deviating from the usual procedure of the social courts, he held public hearings in the presence of those affected and was thus often able to clarify crucial factual and legal questions. He also teaches pension law for trainees of the German pension insurance .

Knipping is a member of the SPD and lives in Eichenau . Since 2014 he has been a member of the council of his home municipality Eichenau.

Knipping has been a writer since the 1970s. The main focus of his work is the history of the railways of the First and Second World Wars and steam locomotives.
