Andreas Kompatscher

Andreas Kompatscher , also Andrä Kompatscher (born November 30, 1864 in Bozen ; † August 30, 1939 there ), was a Tyrolean sculptor .

Life

Andreas Kompatscher studied first at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts , then at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts . In 1887 he worked in Rome, then worked in Vienna on the construction of the Burgtheater and settled in Bozen in 1890, where from 1909 he worked as a professor and head of the stone carving department at the State Trade School. He was married to the sculptor Johanna Stainer (1901–1956) from Margreid .
