Andreas Kundert

Andreas Kundert (born October 1, 1984 ) is a former Swiss athlete . He held the Swiss record in the 110-meter hurdles until July 14, 2018 . He also won the silver medal on this route at both the European Youth Olympic Festival and the European Junior Championships.

Due to his early success, Kundert was accepted into the World Class Potentials project of the Swiss Athletics Association in 2004 . He missed the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 2006 because of a severe flu , at the European Athletics Indoor Championships 2007 in Birmingham he suffered a strain on his right thigh on the third hurdle in the semifinals and thus missed a possible qualification for the final.

After that Kundert struggled with back problems, but was able to qualify for the World Athletics Championships in 2007 , where he narrowly missed qualifying for the semifinals. The following year he achieved the qualification criteria for the Olympic Games in Beijing with a new Swiss record , but was unable to compete there due to a feverish angina . A muscle injury to his left thigh prevented him from participating in the 2009 European Indoor Championships in Turin . After recovering from the injury, he sustained an injury to his right thigh and missed the entire summer season. On May 22nd, 2010 he started again in a 110-meter hurdle race for the first time after almost 2 years, and at the beginning of July he undercut the European Championships in Barcelona . After he could not start at the Swiss championship due to adductor problems , he was not selected for the European championships. In 2011 he reached the limit for the world championships . The following year he missed the European Championships in Helsinki because of a severe contusion of the anterior right thigh muscle.

Andreas Kundert is 1.85 m tall and had a competition weight of 76 kg. Since 2018 he has been working as a coach for the Swiss men's 4 x 100 meter relay.
