Andreas Liegenfeld (born October 29, 1964 in Eisenstadt ) is an Austrian winemaker and politician ( ÖVP ). From 2011 to 2015 he was a member of the Burgenland provincial government in the provincial governments Niessl II and Niessl III .

Life

Liegenfeld grew up in Donnerskirchen , where he also attended elementary school. He then continued his education at the secondary school in Purbach and at the upper level secondary school in the Eisenstadt Wolfgarten diocese, where he graduated in 1984. He works as a wine grower in Donnerskirchen and was a member of the Donnerskirchen wine quartet until May 2011. His wife Gerda Liegenfeld succeeded him in this position.

He began his political career in 1980 with the Young People's Party . In 2008 he became a councilor in his home parish. Since 2009 Liegenfeld has also been President of the Burgenland Viticulture Association and Vice President of the Austrian Viticulture Association. In 2010 the function of the deputy district party chairman of the ÖVP in the district of Eisenstadt and from 2011 that of the financial officer of the Burgenland farmers' union was added. For several years, Andreas Liegenfeld headed “Wein Burgenland”, the Burgenland's wine marketing organization, as its chairman.

From May 11, 2011, Andreas Liegenfeld was the successor of Werner Falb-Meixner Agricultural Councilor, who resigned on April 30, 2011, in the Burgenland state government. His area of ​​responsibility included agriculture and forestry, veterinary matters, animal welfare, agricultural technical schools, hunting, water and waste management, nature and environmental protection, construction of freight roads and rural reorganization. In his work as regional councilor for agriculture, he placed particular emphasis on regional food under the motto “Origin has a future”. On July 9, 2015, Liegenfeld was replaced by Verena Dunst as agricultural councilor as a result of the political changes following the state elections .
