Werner Falb-Meixner (born February 19, 1960 ) is an Austrian farmer and politician ( ÖVP ). Falb-Meixner was from December 2008 to April 2011 Agricultural Council in the Burgenland state government .

Life

Falb-Meixner attended elementary school in Zurndorf from 1966 to 1970 and then switched to the AHS lower level in Neusiedl am See until 1974 . Following Falb-Meixner graduated from the Higher Agricultural Vocational School in Francisco Josephinum in Wieselburg , where in 1979 he obtained the diploma. Falb-Meixner then took over his parents' farm and currently cultivates an area of ​​110 hectares.

Falb-Meixner was a councilor for the Zurndorf community from 1987 to 1992 and was elected to the community council in 1992. From 2002 to 2008 he was mayor of Zurndorf after he had prevailed against the SPÖ incumbent Horvath, although the SPÖ achieved an absolute majority in the municipal council election. Falb-Meixner was able to defend his position in the 2007 mayoral election in a runoff election against the SPÖ candidate Friedl, although his party was again behind the SPÖ in the local council election that took place at the same time.

In addition to his work on the local council, Falb-Meixner has also been chairman of the farmers' union in Zurndorf since 1991. In 1996 he was also elected deputy district farmer's chairman. Since 1998 he has also been a councilor of the Burgenland Chamber of Agriculture. He is also chairman of the Leitha 1 water association and chairman of the Parndorfer Platte - Heideboden European Conservation Area.

Falb-Meixner was from May 19, 2005 to December 11, 2008 for the ÖVP in the Burgenland state parliament. On December 11, 2008 he was sworn in to the new Agricultural Council, where he succeeded his party colleague Nikolaus Berlakovich . Falb-Meixner was a member of the state party executive of the ÖVP. Falb-Meixner resigned on April 30, 2011 after the Supreme Court confirmed his judgment of abuse of office from his position as agricultural councilor. Andreas Liegenfeld became his successor on May 11, 2011 .

On October 14, 2010, Falb-Meixner was conditionally sentenced to a sentence of seven months because, during his tenure as mayor of Zurndorf, he had given the order to register two pupils from Hungary who were attending secondary school in Zurndorf as residents . The students continued to live with their parents in nearby Hungary. Falb-Meixner justified his offense by stating that this was the only way to keep the school going, since at that time secondary schools with fewer than 90 students living in Austria would have been closed.
