Career

Reid initially played three years with the Peterborough Petes . Already in his first year there, which elected him Boston Bruins in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft in the third round as the 60th out. After he came to eight appearances with the Bruins at the end of his last junior season in 1984 and also scored his first NHL goal, he was sent to the farm team for the Hershey Bears in the AHL at the beginning of the following season . For four years he commuted between Boston and the AHL, where he also played for the Moncton Golden Flames and Maine Mariners .

As a free agent he moved to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the summer of 1988 and finally made the breakthrough there. In a series with Dave Hannan and Lou Franceschetti , he was more responsible for defensive tasks. After three years in his native Toronto, he moved back to the Boston Bruins. In the first year he again had to join the farm team in Maine in phases, but from the 1992/93 season he finally had his regular place in Boston. He had his best stats in the 1995/96 season when he scored 23 goals and 44 points. The following year he played for the Dallas Stars . With his strength on the defensive, he had a share in the Stars' first Stanley Cup win in 1999 . This was also the reason why the Colorado Avalanche signed him . He was also there when the team was able to bring the Stanley Cup to Denver in the 2000/01 season . After this success he ended his active career.
