The provincial government Niessl III forms the Burgenland provincial government from the election by the Burgenland Landtag in the XX. Legislative period on June 24, 2010 until the inauguration of the Niessl IV state government on July 9, 2015.

Werner Falb-Meixner resigned on April 30, 2011, after the Supreme Court had confirmed his judgment for abuse of office, from his position as regional councilor for agriculture. Andreas Liegenfeld became his successor on May 11, 2011 .

Election of government members

When the government members were elected in the Burgenland state parliament on June 24, 2010, the government members were not elected individually, rather a joint election proposal was put to the vote in the state parliament. In the election that was carried out, 36 votes were cast, with all votes valid. 31 votes were “yes” and supported the joint election proposal, 5 votes were “no” and rejected it, whereby the SPÖ-ÖVP coalition had exactly 31 votes.
