The provincial government of Lentsch under governor Josef Lentsch (ÖVP) forms the provincial government of Burgenland from the withdrawal of Johann Wagner as governor on August 8, 1961 to the inauguration of the Bögl provincial government on June 12, 1964.

The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) and the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) each provided three of the six members of the state government . After the resignation of Johann Wagner (ÖVP) as governor, the long-time Provincial Councilor Josef Lentsch (ÖVP) took over the office of governor. Rudolf Grohotolsky (ÖVP), member of the state parliament, succeeded him as state councilor on August 8, 1961. After Hans Wast (SPÖ) was elected to the National Council, he resigned as Deputy Governor on December 18, 1962. In his place, the long-standing Provincial Councilor Hans Bögl was re-elected to the state government on the same day . Also on December 18, 1962, Heinrich Knotzer resigned from his position as regional councilor and was elected second president of the state parliament. The previous 2nd President of the State Parliament, Theodor Kery, was sworn in for him .
