Rudolf Grohotolsky

Rudolf Grohotolsky (born August 9, 1922 in Tobaj , Güssing district , Burgenland ; † August 16, 2013 ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and district captain of Jennersdorf . He was also a deputy to the Burgenland Landtag , the third President of the Landtag (Austria) and Governor -Stellvertreter in the Burgenland State Government .

Life

education and profession

Grohotolsky was born as the son of the farmer Franz Grohotolsky from Tobaj. He attended elementary school in Tobaj and then secondary school in Güssing . He then moved to the commercial school in Vienna and graduated from the commercial academy in Graz , where he passed the war high school diploma in 1941. Grohotolsky initially studied at the University of Vienna , but had to serve in the Wehrmacht between 1941 and 1945 during the Second World War . After the end of the war, Grohotolsky continued his studies from 1945, where he studied political science and law at the University of Graz . He received his doctorate in 1948 as Dr.rer.pol and in 1950 as Dr. jur. From 1948 he was active in the service of the Province of Burgenland, where he was employed in the trade department of the state government. In 1949 he was promoted to deputy district captain, between 1958 and 1961 he was district captain of the Jennersdorf district commission . Grohotolsky was appointed state councilor in 1957, senior councilor in 1960 and real court councilor in 1963.

Grohotolsky was sworn in as a member of the Burgenland Landtag on June 11, 1956 and served as the 3rd President of the Landtag between May 5, 1960 and August 8, 1961. He was then regional councilor in the Burgenland provincial government between August 8, 1961 and July 5, 1982, and then deputy governor between July 5, 1982 and January 21, 1986. In addition, he was repeatedly a member of the state parliament at short notice, where he was the second president of the state parliament between October 27, 1977 and October 30, 1978. Within the party, Grohotolsky acted as district party chairman of the ÖVP Jennersdorf from 1954 to 1979, was regional party organizer in 1963 and from 1982 to 1985 regional party chairman of the ÖVP Burgenland . He was involved in the Austrian Economic Association and from February 1, 1964, he held the position of deputy regional group chairman. Grohotolsky was also a councilor of the Burgenland Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the trade section.
