The provincial government Karall III under Governor Lorenz Karall (ÖVP) formed the Burgenland provincial government from the election by the Burgenland Landtag in the VII legislative period on March 19, 1953 to the inauguration of the provincial government Wagner I on June 22, 1956.

The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) and the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) each provided three of the six members of the state government . After the SPÖ gained in the state elections in 1953, the ÖVP had to surrender a seat in the state government to the SPÖ again. The ÖVP gained this position in the 1949 state elections. Josef Lentsch (ÖVP) was no longer a member of the state government and had to give up his function as state councilor to Albin Dostal (SPÖ).
