The provincial government Johann Wagner II under governor Johann Wagner (ÖVP) formed the Burgenland provincial government from the election by the Burgenland Landtag in the IX. Legislative period on July 27, 1960 until Wagner left the state government on August 8, 1961. The state government of Wagner II was followed by the Lentsch state government .
The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) and the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) each provided three of the six members of the state government . After the state elections in 1960 , the composition of the party representatives remained unchanged compared to the previous Wagner I government . After many years as a regional councilor and deputy governor, Alois Wessely (SPÖ) was no longer a member of the government. The previous 2nd President of the Landtag Hans Wastl (SPÖ) took over his office . The state councils remained unchanged compared to the previous government.
