State election in Burgenland in 1960
The state election in Burgenland 1960 was carried out on April 10, 1960 and was the 9th state election in the Austrian state of Burgenland . In the election, the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) was once again able to defend its leadership position and its 16 mandates. The ÖVP succeeded in doing this despite a loss of one percentage point of vote, with which it achieved 48.2%. The SPÖ remained almost unchanged and still had 15 members in the state parliament with 46.2%. The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) was able to gain around 1.7 percentage points, but still only had one member of the state parliament (4.6%). The Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) failed with losses of 1.1% as it did in 1956 when it entered the state parliament.
The Diet of the IX. The legislative period was constituted on May 5, 1960 and elected the state government of Johann Wagner II on June 27, 1960 .
