State election in Burgenland 1945

The state election in Burgenland 1945 was carried out on November 25, 1945 and was the 5th state election in the federal state of Burgenland and the first state election after the Second World War . The newly formed Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) achieved an absolute majority with 51.8% in the first run and subsequently provided 17 of the 32 MPs. The Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ) was able to exceed its pre-war results and received 44.9% of the votes and 14 seats. The Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) was also represented in the Landtag for the first time, and won a mandate with 3.3%.

The state parliament of the fifth legislative period was constituted on December 13, 1945 and elected the Karall I state government on January 4, 1946 .
