State election in Burgenland 1996
The state elections in Burgenland were held on June 2, 1996 and were the 18th state elections in the state of Burgenland . The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) won a mandate from the ÖVP and, as the winner of the election, was able to increase its share of the vote by 4.8% and achieved five mandates. The Greens Burgenland (GRÜNE) failed for the third time in their entry into the state parliament, which the Liberal Forum (LIF) also missed. Likewise, the FDP failed again after 1991 when it entered the state parliament, although the party only ran for election in constituencies 1-3. The Burgenland Citizens' Initiative (BIB), which ran for election in all constituencies with the exception of the Neusiedl am See constituency, did not win a mandate in the state parliament.
The Parliament of the XVII. The legislative period was constituted on June 27, 1996 and on that day elected the Stix II state government under the previous Governor Karl Stix , which succeeded the Stix I state government .
