State election in Burgenland 1987
The state election in Burgenland 1987 was carried out on October 4, 1987 and was the 15th state election in the Austrian state of Burgenland . In the election, the Socialist Party of Austria lost its absolute majority after 19 years and, with a minus of 5.9%, achieved a share of the vote of 47.3%. For the SPÖ this meant a loss of 3 mandates, which means that the SPÖ only had 17 of 36 members of the state parliament. The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) also lost votes and posted a loss of 1.5% for the seventh time in a row. With 41.5%, however, she was able to keep her 16 mandates. The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) in particular benefited from the losses suffered by the major parties. After leaving the Landtag in 1977, it managed to return to the Landtag with 7.3% with 3 seats. On the other hand, the Green Alternative party , which was drafted into the National Council in 1986, failed because it entered the National Council under the list name Die Grünen - Die Grüne Alternative - Zelene Alternativa - Zöld Alternativistika and achieved 2.2%. The Burgenland initiative with Matysek (BI), which achieved 1.1%, and the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ), which received 0.6% of the vote, also failed because of the move .
The Diet of the XV. The legislative period was constituted on October 30, 1987 and on that day elected the Sipötz state government .
