The provincial government Sipötz under governor Johann Sipötz (SPÖ) forms the Burgenland provincial government from the election by the Burgenland Landtag in the XV. Legislative period on October 30, 1987 until the state government Stix I was sworn in on July 18, 1991.

After the state elections in 1987 , the Burgenland provincial government again consisted of seven members, of which the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) had four representatives and the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) had three members. After the long-term governor Theodor Kery (SPÖ) withdrew , the previous provincial councilor, Johann Sipötz (SPÖ), was elected governor. The former Federal Councilor Christa Krammer , who was a woman for the first time, succeeded in the state government for his role as regional councilor . At the ÖVP, Provincial Councilor Johann Karall was replaced as Provincial Councilor by Eduard Ehrenhöfler, a former member of the Landtag . During the term of office of the state government of Sipötz there were no personnel changes in the government team.
