State election in Lower Austria in 1945
The state elections in Lower Austria took place on November 25, 1945 , together with the National Council elections and the state elections in the other federal states. The ballot papers were divided into two parts: the National Council was elected in the upper section, the Landtag in the lower section. The ÖVP came out on top as the winner and won 32 of the 56 seats.
Acceding parties and constituencies
Only three parties ran for the election in Lower Austria:
- Austrian People's Party (ÖVP)
- Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ)
- Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ)
The provisional state government had decided to reform the constituency division before the state elections. It reintroduced four constituencies, with 15 seats on constituency 8 ( district above the Vienna Woods ), 11 seats on constituency 9 ( district below the Vienna Woods ), 11 seats on constituency 10 ( district above Manhartsberg ) and 11 seats on the constituency 11 ( quarter under the Manhartsberg ) 12 seats were canceled.
