State election in Lower Austria in 1954
The state elections in Lower Austria in 1954 took place on October 17, together with the state elections in Salzburg and Vorarlberg and the municipal council elections in Vienna. Despite losing a mandate, the ÖVP was able to obtain an absolute majority in the state parliament and achieved 30 of the 56 mandates.
Acceding parties and constituencies
Four parties ran for election in Lower Austria:
- Austrian People's Party (ÖVP)
- Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ)
- Electoral Community of the Austrian People's Opposition (VO)
- Elective Party of the Independent (WdU)
The KPÖ took part in this election as the “Electoral Community of the Austrian People's Opposition”. As in the 1949 state elections, four electoral districts were elected.
