The state elections in Lower Austria in 1998 took place on March 22nd. A total of seven parties tried to win the 56 seats in the Lower Austrian state parliament . The ÖVP , SPÖ , FPÖ , the Liberal Forum , the Greens , and the KPÖ ran in all 21 constituencies.

The BGÖ ( civil green Austria for a nuclear-free Austria quickly overcome genetic engineering - preserve nature ), as well as the LPW ( list Pepi Wagner ) were new candidates in all constituencies. In the constituency of Krems, L. ZÖCH ( Reason for Lower Austria - Dr. Wolfgang Zöch ) stood.

The ranking on the ballot paper was inconsistent.

Of the 1,473,813 residents on the reporting date, 1,291,108 were eligible to vote.
