The state election in Lower Austria in 1932 took place on April 24th. The winner of the election was the National Socialist German Workers' Party, which entered the state parliament for the first time . Most of the other parties lost votes and seats. The Christian Social Party lost most of the votes and the absolute majority, but remained the strongest parliamentary group in the state parliament.
Accompanying parties
The amended state election ordinance was applied for the first time in this election. The main changes were the doubling of the constituencies, a reduction to 56 mandataries and an increase in the voting age. The passive right to vote was raised to 29 years, the active one to 21. All these measures were intended to make it more difficult for the National Socialists to enter the state parliament.
In all eight constituencies ran:
- Christian Social Party (CS)
- Social Democratic Workers' Party SDAPÖ
- National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP)
- Greater German People's Party together with the Landbund (GDVP)
- Estates farmers' association (StVB)
In addition, the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) competed in all constituencies except Wachau (Krems) .
Result
The biggest loser in the election was the Christian Social Party , which ran together with the Greater German People's Party in the last election . The electoral community not only lost 12.2% of the vote, but also ten seats. Even the Landbund , this time running together with the Greater German People's Party, could not keep its only mandate. The Social Democratic Labor Party only had to accept the loss of a mandate.
The winner of the election was the National Socialist German Workers' Party . It was able to increase its votes by more than 270%, moved into the state parliament for the first time with eight members and provided a state council.
