Andreas "Andy" Ritsch (born June 23, 1961 in Chur ) is a Swiss ice hockey player and coach.

Career

Andy Ritsch, who grew up in Arosa and trained as an electrician, spent his entire junior career at EHC Arosa . For the 1979/80 season he was appointed as a defender in the first team and won his first league title with the club . He was able to repeat this success in 1982. He also finished second with the EHC Arosa in 1981 and 1984, and third in the Swiss championship in 1985. Together with his playing partner Reto Sturzenegger was one of the most successful Swiss defenders of the time.

After the voluntary relegation of EHC Arosa in 1986 to the first division , Ritsch moved to the up-and-coming HC Lugano , with which he won the Swiss championship again in 1987 and 1988. After differences with coach John Slettvoll , he moved to EV Zug in the middle of the 1989/90 season after he was not allowed a contract with SC Bern . From 1994 to 1996 he played at Rapperswil-Jona Lakers before ending his playing career at EHC Chur in the National League B in 1998 .

In the national team , Andy Ritsch played various international matches. Among other things, he was a regular at the World Championships in 1987 and 1990 and at the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary , where he scored one goal and one assist in six games .

Andy Ritsch has been working as an ice hockey coach since the end of his playing career. His relevant positions included EV Zug (assistant coach), the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers (assistant and junior coach), the Swiss U20 national team (assistant coach) and the EHC Chur (head coach). From 2008 to March 2014 Ritsch was head coach at his home club EHC Arosa. From April 2014 to the end of 2017 he was the trainer of the EHC Wetzikon . He has been a trainer at EC Wil (SG) since 2018.
