Hartford is a town that is centrally located in Washington County , New York State . It belongs to the Glens Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area . In 2010 the town had 2269 inhabitants.

history

The Provincial Patent of 1766 granted officers who had served in the French and Indian War land in the area of ​​today's Towns Putnam, Fort Ann, the Kingsbury part of Dresden and Hartford. This area belonged to the Town of Westfield at the time and the Town of Hartford was separated from it in 1793. Many of the early settlers came to the area from New England .

Today's Hartford Baptist Church is the fourth church building on this site. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004 . Also on the National Register is the Elisha Straight House , which housed a recruiting office for Union soldiers during the Civil War.
