Andrei Giro

Andrei Vladimirovitsch Giro ( Belarusian Андрэй Уладзіміравіч Гіро * October 20, 1967 in Minsk ; † November 17, 2015 ) was a Belarusian diplomat .

Life

Giro graduated from the Minsk State Pedagogical University for Foreign Languages ​​in 1991 with a degree in German and English . From 1991 to 1993 he worked as a consultant in the Belarusian Society for Friendship and Cultural Connection with Abroad .

In 1993 he first became third, then second secretary in the Belarusian Foreign Ministry. From 1996 to 1999 he was second and later first secretary and chargé d'affaires at the Belarusian embassy in Switzerland in Bern . Back in Belarus he worked as a consultant in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2001 to 2005 he was Counselor at the Embassy in Austria in Vienna . In 2003 Giro completed a degree in foreign policy and diplomacy at the Institute of Public Service at the Administrative Academy under the President of Belarus.

He headed the unit for Western Europe and from 2007 to 2008 the consular department in the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On June 26, 2009, he took over the post of ambassador at the Belarusian embassy in Berlin , Germany .

Andrei Giro died unexpectedly at the age of 48.
