Andrei Igorewitsch Alschan ( Russian Андре́й И́горевич Альша́н ; born March 18, 1960 in Baku , Azerbaijani SSR ) is a former Soviet saber fencer .
successes
Andrei Alschan was world champion six times with the team : 1983 in Vienna , 1985 in Barcelona , 1986 in Sofia , 1987 in Lausanne , 1989 in Denver and 1990 in Lyon . In addition, he won two silver medals and one bronze with her. In 1982 he won his only medal at world championships in Rome with silver. At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 he reached the final unbeaten with the team, in which the Soviet team separated against Hungary with 8: 8, but ultimately lost due to the slightly worse hit rate of 64:67. Together with Sergei Korjaschkin , Michail Burzew , Heorhij Pohossow and Serhij Mindirhassow he received the silver medal. He finished the individual competition in ninth place.
