Sobakarew started in Vershina Tjoi in November 2013 for the first time in the Eastern Europe Cup and finished 108th in the sprint. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2016 in Râşnov , he achieved 15th place over 10 km classic. At the end of January 2017, he came sixth in the sprint at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Soldier Hollow . The following month he was in Syktyvkar Russian U23 champion over 15 km classic and reached there with the second place in the sprint his first podium finish in the Eastern Europe Cup. He ran his first World Cup race in January 2018 in Planica , which he finished in 72nd place in the sprint. The next day he got his first World Cup points with ninth place over 15 km. At the U23 World Championships in Goms in 2018 , he finished 58th in the sprint and tenth over 15 km classic. In the 2018/19 season he achieved 45th place in the Lillehammer Triple and 23rd place in the Tour de Ski 2018/19 and thus reached 50th place in the overall World Cup. At the U23 World Championships in Lahti in 2019 , he won the gold medal in the 30 km mass start race. At the beginning of March 2019, he won the bronze medal in the sprint at the Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk and, together with Polina Nekrasova, the silver medal in the team sprint.
