Andrej E. Skubic
Andrej Ermenc Skubic (born December 28, 1967 in Ljubljana , Yugoslavia ) is a Slovenian author.
Life
Skubic studied English and Slavic Studies at the University of Ljubljana and worked at the university between 1998 and 2004 until he completed his doctorate on a sociolinguistic topic , and has been working as a freelancer ever since.
He translates into Slovenian authors such as Samuel Beckett , Flann O'Brien , Patrick McCabe , James Joyce , James Kelman , Gertrude Stein and Irvine Welsh and received the Sovre Prize for this. Skubic writes plays, short stories and novels. For his literary work he received the Kresnik Prize twice, in 2000 and 2012, the Župančičeva Prize in 2007 and the Prešeren Foundation Prize in 2012. Ana Lasić's theater version of Fužinski bluz at the Ljubljanska Drama (SNG Drama) was invited to the Wiesbaden Biennale in 2006 at the Wiesbaden State Theater .
