Andrej Urnaut (born October 13, 1965 in Ravne ) is a former Yugoslav and Slovenian national volleyball player and today's coach .

Career as a player

Andrej Urnaut played for HAOK Mladost Zagreb for many years , where he was Yugoslav champion several times and twice in the final of the European Cup . In 1989 he left his homeland for Italy and played with Gividì Milan and Alpitour Cuneo . In 1992 he moved to Belgium to join Noliko Maaseik , where he won several Belgian championships and cups. In 1997 he was again in the final of the European Cup . After a short detour to the French club Nizza Volley-Ball, he returned to Belgium for VC Averbode . In 2002 Andrej Urnaut was reactivated by the German Bundesliga club SCC Berlin . It was used here universally and won the German championship title in 2003 .

Career as a coach

Andrej Urnaut's first coaching position in 2001 was the Belgian first division club VC Euphony Asse-Lennik . After his comeback as a player at SCC Berlin and also in Asse-Lennik, Andrej Urnaut coached the Belgian club VC Averbode from 2003 to 2009 . In between he was also the national coach of Croatia . In the 2009/10 season Andrej Urnaut was coach at his former club SCC Berlin . Since January 2011 he has been coaching the Slovenian club OK Salonit Anhovo Kanal .

Private

Andrej Urnaut belongs to a successful volleyball family. His younger brothers Matjaz and Tine are also Slovenian national players and play in the French League A and in the Italian Serie A1. His son Aljosa plays for the German Bundesliga club evivo Düren .
