Andres Brütsch (born June 11, 1951 in Basel ) is a Swiss advertising and documentary filmmaker and producer.

Life

He broke off his studies at the Munich Film Academy , then worked as a trainee at Condor Films in Zurich , where he started directing commissioned films in 1976 . From 1978 he worked as a freelance writer , director and cameraman for commissioned and advertising films in Switzerland, from 1980 also in England, Holland, South Africa and from 1996 USA.

In 1985, as managing director, he also took over the majority of the Topic Film production company in Zurich (advertising and commissioned films ) and was its sole owner from 1992 to 2011. In 2004 he started producing feature films and documentaries (Topic Features). Brütsch sold the company in spring 2011 and has been working as a freelance writer and director of documentary films ever since.

Awards - u. a. International Cannes Film Festival , New York International Film Festival , Prize from the Federal Department of Home Affairs and the Art Directors Club Switzerland .

Brütsch was President of the Swissfilm Association (SFA) and President of the "Zurich for Film" association for several years . In this function he was largely responsible for the establishment of the Zürcher Filmstiftung , of which he is Vice-President of the Board of Trustees. He is active in Swiss film politics, he was President of the Association "Group Authors, Directors, Producers / GARP" and is Chairman of the Vision Group. Since 2012 he has been president of the "Friends of Kunsthaus Zug" foundation board. Brütsch has been a regular guest lecturer in the field of film / storytelling at the HSLU (Lucerne University of Applied Sciences) for many years.
