Andreu Mas-Colell

Andreu Mas-Colell (born June 29, 1944 ) is a Spanish-Catalan economist, professor at the Pompeu Fabra University and Minister of Economics and Science of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia .

From July 2009 to August 2010, he succeeded Ernst-Ludwig Winnacker , Secretary General of the European Research Council . He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (1985), the National Academy of Sciences (1997), the Real Academia de Ciencias Morales y Políticas (2007) and the Academia Europaea (2009). The University of Alicante (1992), the University of Toulouse (2002), the HEC Paris (2005) and the Universidad Nacional del Sur (2007) awarded him an honorary doctorate. In 1988 he received the King Juan Carlos Prize for Economics , the BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award in 2009 and the Erasmus Medal in 2017 . From 1978 to 1980 he was a Sloan Research Fellow and 1985/1986 Guggenheim Fellow.
