Andrew Brown (clarinetist)

Andrew Brown (born February 2, 1900 in St. Louis , † January 30, 1960 in New York City ) was an American jazz musician ( clarinet , bass clarinet and tenor saxophone ).

Live and act

Lawson played in PB Langford's Oddfellows Band in the early 1920s , and eventually in Wilson Robinson's Orchestra, which became the Cotton Club Orchestra. The first recordings were made with the Cotton Club Orchestra under the direction of Andy Preer. In the late 12920s he worked with Leroy Tibbs and his Connie's Inn Orchestra and with The Missourians . Around 1930 he became a member of Cab Calloway's orchestra , with whom he toured Europe in 1934. After he left Calloway around 1945, he played in the following years with Dince Vance , with whose orchestra he accompanied vocalists such as Wini Brown , Ida James and Mabel Scott , and in the orchestra of Eddie Barefield . In the field of jazz he was involved in over 100 recording sessions between 1924 and 1951.
