Andrew Noren

Andrew Noren (born 1943 in Santa Fe , New Mexico , † May 2015 in South Carolina ) was an American avant-garde film director and producer .

life and work

Andrew Noren started as an autodidact and initially worked as a photographer before he discovered his love for film. He borrowed a film camera from fellow filmmakers and began making his first films.

Andrew Noren has been making avant-garde films since the mid-1960s. Since 1968 he has been working on a multi-diary film: The Adventures of the Exquisite Corpse , which consists of numerous parts. Noren's films are some of the best examples of the transformative and abstract qualities of black and white films.

Andrew Noren took part in Documenta 5 in Kassel in 1972 in the Film Show: New American Cinema department with his film The Wind Variations (1969) .

In 1998 Noren founded The Research Source as a service provider for archives and film research.
