Working method

For Andri Pol, the focus is on people as they are. Before taking photos, he wants to establish a relationship of trust between the person and him. This process takes a lot of time:

“In the best case scenario, I can capture this moment when the other person opens up to me. It's a long way to go and requires asking questions, listening, and observing gestures and facial expressions. But I don't always succeed; there is no recipe. "

When he pulls the trigger, he wants to understand the person in the photo, but he doesn't want to gloss over:

«As a photographer I try to be objective and to capture what is - that can be perceived as ruthless. I show how I see the world and that is always a personally selected section of the world. "

Pol portrays a person in a natural pose. He dispenses with artificial poses or detailed instructions, for example on the direction of view or posture. He wants his pictures to have strength. For him this means that a picture has to tell a story. At the same time, he wants to tell stories and bring people closer to foreign places.
