Andria Balantschivadze
Andria Balanchivadze ( Georgian ანდრია ბალანჩივაძე ; and Andrei Balanchivadze ; born May 19, jul. / 1. June 1906 greg. In St. Petersburg ; † 28. April 1992 in Tbilisi ) was a Georgian composer .
The son of the composer Meliton Balantschiwadze and brother of George Balanchine studied in Tbilisi with Nikolai Tscherepnin and Mikhail Ippolitow-Ivanov until 1926 and then at the Leningrad Conservatory of composition with Alexander Zhitomirski and piano with Marija Yudina . Since 1935 he has taught at the Tbilisi Conservatory .
Balantschiwadze composed two operas ( Mzia , 1949 and Okros korcineba ( The Golden Wedding ), 1970), two symphonies , three piano concertos , choirs and songs, as well as film and stage music .
