Andrzej Babiński (born January 5, 1938 in Białystok , † May 14, 1984 in Poznan ) was a Polish poet .

Life

Babiński spent his childhood in the countryside near Białystok during the German occupation of Poland . He attended school in Poznan after the war and graduated from high school in 1955 . As a poet he made his debut with the poem Pocałowana , which appeared in the supplement Świat i Ludzie of Gazeta Białostocka in 1956 . He studied psychology at the Catholic University of Lublin from 1957 to 1961 , but dropped out shortly before completing his master's degree . During this time he became friends with Edward Stachura . After completing his studies, he took on several odd jobs, from 1961 to 1963 as head of the cultural center in Płock and later as a seasonal worker in sugar factories. In the 1970s and 1980s he published his poems in the magazines Poezja, Twórczość, Nowy Wyraz, Życie Literackie , Nurt, Radar and Fakty . In 1979 he was admitted to the Union of Polish Writers .
