Andy Duncan (* 21st September 1964 in Batesburg-Leesville ) is an American science fiction - and fantasy - a writer whose works often deal with the southern United States.

biography

Duncan was born in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina and graduated from W. Wyman King Academy. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in journalism and then worked for seven years at Greensboro News & Record , a local Greensboro , North Carolina newspaper .

He received a Masters of Arts in creative writing from North Carolina State University and a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Alabama . In 1994 he took part in the Clarion West Writers' Workshop . In 2008 he was hired as a professor of English at Frostburg State University in Frostburg . His work has appeared in several magazines such as Asimov's Science Fiction , Realms of Fantasy , Weird Tales , SciFiction , and Escape Pod . He has also published poems, essays, book reviews and reviews. He currently lives in Frostburg with his wife Sydney, dogs and cats.

From 2003 to 2008 he was the head of the literary department of Overdrive , a magazine for truckers . In 2004 he was a teacher / trainer in the Clarion Workshop and in 2005 in the Clarion West.

He also gave lectures and spoke at events such as the International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts, which takes place every spring in Florida .
