Life

Andy Holm's first maxi single " Alles Gute ", today a sought-after rarity.

Holm attended the Ludwig-Meyn-Gymnasium in Uetersen and worked as a deliverer for the Uetersener Nachrichten . In the late 1970s, Holm gave the first live concerts in Elmshorn and in the Uetersen "Klepper-Haus", which made him known regionally, as a keyboardist together with Karl-Heinz Boyke on drums and as a solo artist with keyboard and synthesizer . In 1982 he released his first maxi single " Alles Gute " under the name "Andreas Holm's Collage" with the songs " I don't stand on it " and " Bitterer Taste ", which was recorded in the "Container Records Studio" in Hamburg. This brought him his first success and is now a sought-after rarity. In Uetersen he made his first contacts with Indian music through the local hippie commune "Toscha-Family". Shortly before graduating from high school, Holm traveled to India, where he stayed for two years, including eight months in a music school in the north of the subcontinent. Holm studied North Indian music there.

The musical influences of the stay in India at that time are partly recognizable in Holm's music. During his stay in India he met an Australian woman and moved with her to Sydney , Australia . There he married his current wife Keinlynn in 1987. Holm lived with her and their daughter Maanee in Byron Bay , around 800 kilometers north of Sydney.

Holm's music is still inspired by the atmosphere there today. For this he learned to play the didgeridoo , the traditional musical instrument of the Australian natives. He also plays Australian flutes, Indian sitar , berimbau and kalimba . He has a total of 18 instruments plus percussion instruments, as well as Afrikaans or Swahili singing .

In 2000, he was hit with his motorcycle by a car that went through a red light and was seriously injured. He was broken 12 bones and had to spend a year in a wheelchair and another year and a half on crutches.

Holm celebrated his first major successes with his world music. His song "Deva Deva" on the CD "The Byron Re-Mix Album" was awarded in 2009 as the best "world music piece" in Australia. In Singapore he started a project with National Geographic . Holm also works as a filmmaker and composes for film productions.

In his career, Holm has made more than 650 live performances across Australia, Singapore and Germany. Because of his connections with National Geographic and the Singapore Film Society, he has composed music for several films and documentaries about Australia.

Holm was trained in the theater and composed music for the stage. He has his own studio near Byron Bay and was nominated for "Best Film Music 2004" for "Best World Music Song 2005". He won the NCEIA Music Award in 2006 for "Best World Music Song". His first short film "Brunswick River Beauty" (screenplay, camera, music) was the runner-up in the "Life On The River" competition in 2005.

In 2012 he appeared in the sixth season of Australia's Got Talent , where he reached fourth place in the eighth semifinals .

In the meantime, Holm moved from Australia to Thailand. He lives with his family on Ko Phangan , an island 60 kilometers northeast of the Thai mainland.

37 years after his first concert in Uetersen's “Klepper-Haus”, he gave his first German concert in 2017 in the legendary “Taps” music bar in his hometown.
