Angélique Duchemin (born June 26, 1991 in Thuir , † August 29, 2017 in Perpignan ) was a French boxer .

Amateur career

Duchemin was French featherweight champion in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and started at the 2009 European Championships in Ukraine , where she was eliminated in the round of 16. In the national Olympic qualification in 2012, she lost in the semifinals to the later 2016 Olympic champion Estelle Mossely .

Professional career

She started as a professional boxer in 2012 and became French super featherweight champion in December 2013. After defending the title twice, she also won the EBU European Super Featherweight Championship against the Greek Maria Semertzoglou in December 2015 . She defended the title in April 2017 against Taoussy L'Hadji.

Duchemin won her first world championship fight on May 12, 2017 against Ericka Rousseau and thus became WBF featherweight title holder. Her first title defense was planned for October 12, 2017 in Montpellier .

As a professional, Duchemin was unbeaten. Her balance was 14 wins from 14 fights.

Angélique Duchemin collapsed at her training facility in Thuir on August 28, 2017 and was hospitalized in Perpignan, where she died the next day of complications from a pulmonary embolism .
