Angela Buxton

Angela Buxton (born August 16, 1934 in Liverpool , United Kingdom , † August 15, 2020 ) was a British tennis player from England .

Life

Angela Buxton's most successful year was 1956, in which she won the women's tennis doubles at the French championships in Paris and Wimbledon , together with the American Althea Gibson . At the Maccabiade in Israel she won the gold medal in the women's singles in 1953 and 1957. In 1956 she reached the tennis singles final at Wimbledon, but had to admit defeat to the American Shirley Fry 3: 6 and 1: 6.
