Angelo Ragazzi (* around 1680 near Naples ; † October 12, 1750 in Vienna ) was an Italian composer and violinist .

Life

Ragazzi received his training in Naples at the Conservatorio S.Maria di Loreto with Gian Carlo Cailò . From 1704 he was a violinist in the royal chapel of Naples. In 1707 he was also a violinist in the chapel of Archduke Karl von Habsburg in Barcelona. After his coronation as emperor, in 1713 he became a member of the Vienna court music band . In 1722 he was back in Naples in the Capella reale di palazzo . Only after the death of concert master Pietro Marchitelli did Ragazzi get a permanent position. After Naples was taken over by the Bourbons in 1734, Ragazzi left his homeland and finally settled in Vienna to become a member of the court orchestra again.

Ragazzi was one of the leading instrumental composers in Naples. The influence of Vivaldi's violin concertos , but also elements of his Viennese teacher Johann Joseph Fux , can be found in his compositional style .
