The Río Anguijón is an approximately 25 km long eastern tributary of the Río Sequillo in the northern Spanish region of Castile-León . It flows through the south of the Comarca Tierra de Campos in the Castilian plateau .

course

The Río Anguijón emerges as the outflow of a lake fed by the Arroyo del Valle de Fuentes about 6 km southwest of the municipality of Villalba de los Alcores . It then runs first in a northerly, then in a west and finally in a south-westerly direction, finally flowing into the Río Sequillo only about 12 km (as the crow flies) northwest of its source in the north of the village of Villanueva de San Mancio .

Tributaries

Numerous streams flow into the Río Anguijón; which, depending on the weather, carry more or less water.

Water flow

The river, which was straightened over long distances in the 19th century, does not carry water all year round; Parts of its shore zones are swampy. It can overflow its banks after heavy or prolonged rainfall.

Attractions

In the village of Montealegre de Campos , the Castillo de Montealegre rises above the river valley. There used to be several watermills on its bank, but all of them have disappeared.
