Angus Macfadyen (born September 21, 1963 in Glasgow , Scotland ) is a British film actor .

life and career

Angus Macfadyen was born in Glasgow in the south of Scotland , but grew up as the son of a WHO doctor for a time in France , Singapore , the Philippines and various African countries. After graduating from school, Macfadyen studied first at Edinburgh University and later acting at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London .

His best-known roles include Captain Blackbeard , whom he played in the 2006 two-part TV series Pirates of the Caribbean , and the insidious Dupont from Equilibrium . He also played Robert the Bruce in Mel Gibson's William Wallace film adaptation of Braveheart . In Saw V , Macfadyen re-embodied his character from Saw III and Saw IV in a flashback . In 2020 he played the role of the US President in the South Korean film Steel Rain 2: Summit , who meets with the North Korean chairman for peace negotiations when a coup takes place in North Korea during the meeting.

Macfadyen was during the shooting of the BBC - Six divider Takin 'Over the Asylum for a few months with fellow actress Catherine Zeta-Jones dating.
