Anheliwka ( Ukrainian Ангелівка ; Russian Ангеловка Angelowka , German Engelsberg , Polish Angelówka or Anielówka , from 1939 Anielin ) is a village in the western Ukrainian Oblast Ivano-Frankivsk with about 310 inhabitants.
It belongs with the village of Maksymiwka to the district municipality of Lolyn ( Лолин ).
history
In the early 19th century, the large mountain area of Wełdzirz (today Schewtschenkowe ) belonged to the Polish landowner Count Joseph von Matkowski. Some German settlements were founded in the area, including today's Anheliwka in 1811, then Engelsberg . Engelsberg was predominantly inhabited by Protestants who founded a branch of the parish Ugartsthal in the Evangelical Superintendentur AB Galizien , which in 1937 had 206 members.
In 1900 the Engelsberg community had 29 houses with 231 inhabitants, 228 of them German-speaking, 3 Ruthenian-speaking, 3 Roman Catholic, 5 Israelite, 223 of other faiths.
After the end of the Polish-Ukrainian War in 1919, the community became part of Poland. In 1921 Engelsberg had 27 houses with 200 inhabitants, of which 183 were Germans, 9 Ruthenians, 5 Jews, 3 Poles, 182 Protestant, 9 Greek-Catholic, 5 Israelite, 4 Roman Catholic.
On May 24, 1939, the name Engelsberg was changed to Anielin .
In the Second World War , the place belonged first to the Soviet Union and from 1941 to the General Government , from 1945 back to the Soviet Union, now part of the Ukraine . The Germans who were then still resident were resettled in 1940 as a result of the German-Soviet border and friendship treaty.
