Anja Pohontsch

Anja Pohontsch ( Sorb. Anja Pohončowa, * 1970 in Vetschau / Spreewald ) is a research assistant at the Sorbian Institute in Bautzen and a Sorbian television presenter.

Pohontsch learned Lower Sorbian from the first grade . At the Sorbian Extended High School “ Marjana Domaškojc ” (today's Lower Sorbian High School ) in Cottbus , her interest in the Sorbian language and history deepened. She studied Russian and Sorabic Studies at Leipzig University and received her doctorate from TU Dresden.

From 1996 to 2001 Pohontsch was the presenter of the Lower Sorbian-Wendish television program " Łužyca - Sorbian from Lusatia". Since mid-2005 she has been working again as a presenter for this program; she takes turns with her colleague Christian Matthée . She also works as a research assistant at the Sorbian Institute in Bautzen .

Anja Pohontsch is married and has two children. The family language is Upper Sorbian , although Anja Pohontsch grew up in Lower Lusatia .
