The Anjui arises from the 693 km long Big Anjui (Bolshoi Anjui) from the left and the 738 km long Little Anjui (Maly Anjui) from the right. After eight kilometers from the right, it flows into the lower Kolyma , opposite the small settlement of Nizhnekolymsk . Immediately below the confluence with the Anjui, another, significantly smaller estuary branches off to the left (west). Big and Small Anjui are already 15 kilometers above (south) their confluence by a narrow arm.

The Anjui flows on the eastern edge of the Kolyma lowlands , in the extreme northeast of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) not far from the border with the Chukchi Autonomous Okrug .

Hydrography

The catchment area of the Anjui covers 107,000 km². The river is over 600 meters wide and four meters deep; the flow velocity is 0.4 m / s.

The mean water flow is around 650 m³ / s. From the hydrological data for the tributaries there is a mean monthly maximum of well over 2500 m³ / s for June.

The Anjui freezes over for up to nine months a year, and floods from late May to June.

Infrastructure

The Anjui is navigable; Of its two tributaries, only the Little Anjui is used for inland shipping for a further 102 kilometers to the village of Anjuisk .
