The Little Anjui ( Russian Малый Анюй / Maly Anjui ) is a 738 kilometer long right tributary of the Kolyma in northeast Siberia beyond the Arctic Circle ( Russia , Asia ). Shortly before the mouth, the river joins the Great Anjui to form the Anjui .
course
The Little Anjui flows in 588 m of the Lake Bolschoje Verkhneje (Russian for Great Upper Lake ) of the Gytgylwegytgyn Lakes ( Chukschisch Гытгыльвэгытгын ) on the Anadyr Plateau . It flows through the low mountain range west of the Chukotka peninsula in a predominantly westerly direction to the confluence with the Great Anjui to the Anjui on the eastern edge of the Kolyma lowlands . The Anjui flows into the lower Kolyma after eight kilometers. Big and Small Anjui are already 15 kilometers above (south) their confluence by a narrow arm.
The most important tributaries from the right are Großer Keperwejem (Bolshoi Keperwejem) and Pogynden .
The Little Anjui flows almost completely in the territory of the Chukchi Autonomous Okrug until it reaches the extreme northeast of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) not far from the mouth .
Hydrography
The catchment area of the Little Anjui covers 49,800 km². The river is over 400 meters wide and two meters deep near the mouth; the flow velocity is 0.4 m / s.
The mean water flow at the central reaches at the Ostrownoje measuring point, above the confluence of the largest tributary Pogynden, is still 181 m³ / s, with a monthly minimum of 0.3 m³ / s in April and a maximum of 898 m³ / s in June.
Little Anjui freezes over for up to nine months a year, whereby it can freeze through to the bottom in the upper and middle reaches. From the end of May to June it leads to high water.
Economy and Infrastructure
Little Anjui is navigable for 102 kilometers to the village of Anjuisk .
Overall, the area through which it flows is extremely sparsely populated. However, there are several settlements on the river (Ilirnei, Keperwejem, Ostrownoje , Anjuisk ), and the small town of Bilibino with the northernmost nuclear power plant in the world, which takes its cooling water from the river , on the tributary of the Great Keperwejem . There are some roads in the area around Bilibino in particular.
