The Great Anjui ( Russian Большой Анюй / Bolshoi Anjui ) is a 693 km long right tributary of the Kolyma in northeast Siberia beyond the Arctic Circle ( Russia , Asia ). Shortly before the mouth, the river joins the Little Anjui to form the Anjui .
course
The Great Anjui arises in just under 560 m on the Anadyr Plateau from the 20 to 30 kilometer long source rivers Rechter and Linker Iljukeiwejem (Prawy and Lewy Iljukeiwejem; Russian / Chukschisch Правый / Левый Илюкейвеем ). It flows through the low mountain range west of the Chukotka peninsula, initially in a westerly and later in a north-westerly direction along the south-western edge of the mountains to the confluence with the Little Anjui and the Anjui on the eastern edge of the Kolyma lowlands . The Anjui flows into the lower Kolyma after eight kilometers. Big and Small Anjui are already 15 kilometers above (south) their confluence by a narrow arm.
The most important tributaries are Angarka and Kameschkowa from the right and Alutschin, Peschenka and Jarowaja from the left.
The Great Anjui flows almost entirely on the territory of the Chukchi Autonomous Okrug until it reaches the extreme northeast of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) not far from its mouth .
Hydrography
The catchment area of the Great Anjui covers 57,200 km². The river is over 400 meters wide and two meters deep near the mouth; the flow velocity is 0.5 m / s.
The mean water flow at the Konstantinowo measuring point, 67 kilometers above the mouth, is 267 m³ / s, with a monthly minimum of 2.3 m³ / s in March and a maximum of 1273 m³ / s in June.
The Great Anjui freezes over for up to nine months a year, and floods from late May to June.
Infrastructure
The lower reaches of the Great Anjui is navigable, but is not used for inland navigation as the area through which it flows is practically unpopulated. Therefore there is no other infrastructure.
