Anna Blyth (born May 15, 1988 in Leeds ) is a former British track cyclist .
Athletic career
Anna Blyth began competitive cycling at the age of 15; she had previously played hockey . After she had already achieved podium places at junior European and world championships, she became junior world champion in the Keirin in Ghent in 2006 . In 2007 she became European champion (youngsters) in the same discipline. In 2008 she won the British Elite Championship in the 500 m time trial and team sprint , together with Victoria Pendleton .
Afterwards, Blyth, who had previously started in the short-term disciplines on the track, switched to the endurance area. In 2009 she won the scratch race at the European Championships (under 23). She also achieved third place in the same discipline at the Commonwealth Games 2010 , despite a tire failure.
Anna Blyth was a member of the British “Olympic Development Plan” and the “Olympic Academy” in preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games in London . After the Commonwealth Games in October 2010, however, she ended her cycling career at the age of 22. She then took up studies and returned to hockey. Until 2016, she was the captain of the 1st women's team of the Leeds Adel Hoyckey Club for four seasons .
