Anna Skryleva

Anna Skryleva ( Russian Анна Скрылёва ; * 1975 in Moscow ) is a Russian pianist and conductor . She has lived and worked in Germany since 1999. Between 2013 and 2015 she was Deputy General Music Director and 1st Kapellmeister in the management team of the Darmstadt State Theater . Anna Skryleva has been General Music Director at Theater Magdeburg since August 1, 2019

life and career

Anna Skryleva received her first piano lessons at the age of five and wrote her first compositions at the age of eight. At the age of 10 she was accepted into a composition class at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory , where she also trained as a pianist and chamber musician.

From 1999 she studied in Berlin at the University of the Arts and took conducting lessons from Professor Lutz Herbig in Düsseldorf. In 2002 and 2003 she worked at the University of Music in Karlsruhe with Alicja Mounk as a musical assistant in the field of music theater. At the Cologne Opera , Skryleva was involved in the revival of Wagner's “ Ring des Nibelungen ” with Jeffrey Tate and Markus Stenz . From 2007 to 2012 Skryleva participated in numerous opera productions at the Hamburg State Opera under the direction of General Music Director and Artistic Director Simone Young and performed repertoire of the opera with the Hamburg Philharmonic .

In 2012 she took up her post as deputy general music director and first conductor at the Schleswig-Holstein State Theater . At the beginning of the 2013/14 season she was engaged in the same position at the Staatstheater Darmstadt .

Skryleva's first Darmstadt premiere on March 15, 2014 was Verdi's Otello .

At the end of November and beginning of December 2015 Anna Skryleva was invited to take part in the first international institute for women conductors at the Dallas Opera, USA.

Anna Skryleva has been General Music Director at Theater Magdeburg since August 1, 2019.

In March 2014 Anna Skryleva started a peace initiative “Classic for Peace”. The initiative is aimed primarily at artists of all genres who are committed to a world free of hatred and aggression; to artists who want to realize joint projects, across all supposedly dividing borders. In August 2015 Anna Skryleva and “Classic for Peace” brought highly talented young musicians from Ukraine and Russia to Germany, who are conducting a multicultural dialogue as part of the 2015 International Musical Youth Exchange .
