Anna Sophie von Sachsen-Gotha-Altenburg (* December 22, 1670 in Gotha , † December 28, 1728 in Rudolstadt ) was a princess of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and by marriage Princess of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .

Life

Anna Sophie was the eldest daughter of Duke Friedrich I of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (1646–1691) from his marriage to Magdalena Sibylle (1648–1681), daughter of Duke August of Saxe-Weissenfels .

She married Count Ludwig Friedrich I. von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt (1667-1718) on October 15, 1691 at Schloss Friedenstein . In 1710 her husband was raised to the rank of imperial prince and Anna Sophie became the first princess of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. Three years later, the primogeniture order was introduced in the country , whereby Anna Sophie's eldest son became his father's heir.
